PPACG to begin major building upgrade project June 17

COLORADO SPRINGS – Most staff at the Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments will work remotely for two weeks starting Monday, June 17, for a construction project to replace and upgrade components with the building’s air handling system. Limited in-office operations are scheduled to begin on Monday, July 1, and last until approximately Labor Day. Programs and services will continue uninterrupted during the project.

Schedule and Building Impact

Most staff will work remotely for a two-week period from June 17 through June 28, as this period will involve the most noise and impact to the ability to cool the building.

On Monday, July 1, the second floor of the building is scheduled to reopen on a limited basis. The first floor of the building, where the staff of the Pike Peak Area Agency on Aging is located, is scheduled to remain closed for an additional six weeks through August 9. PPAAA staff may work and conduct meetings on the second floor if conditions allow. This timeline may be adjusted based on the pace of construction.

On August 12, the first floor is scheduled to reopen while the second floor closes for a four-week period. Staff working on the second floor, primarily transportation and administrative staff, may work or conduct meetings on the first floor if conditions allow. This timeline may be adjusted based on the pace of construction.

The bulk of construction is scheduled to be complete near Labor Day. As construction progresses, updates will be posted on ppacg.org when building floors reopen.

Pikes Peak Area Agency on Aging

Individuals needing to contact staff in the Pikes Peak Area Agency on Aging should call (719) 471-2096 to coordinate appointments. Staff will meet either by phone, by video conference, meeting in-person at locations throughout the region or meeting at the offices if conditions allow.

Committee and Board Meetings

Most committee meetings will move to a virtual-only format for at least two months. The Board of Directors will conduct its July 10 meeting, at El Paso County’s Centennial Hall at 200 S Cascade Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80903. Individuals planning to attend any meetings should confirm meeting locations based on the posted meeting agendas at ppacg.org. Physical postings will continue at the designated locations at both entrances to PPACG.
