The Colorado Department of Transportation and its design partner Stanley Consultants invite the public to attend an open house to learn about four proposed alternatives for the intersection of Colorado Highway 83 and Stagecoach Road in Black Forest. The open house will take place from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2024, in the commons at Monument Academy East Campus, 4303 Pinehurst Circle in Colorado Springs, CO 80908.

There will not be a formal presentation at the open house. Instead, the public is encouraged to attend any time between 5 and 7 p.m. to learn about the project and the proposed intersection alternatives, meet the team, provide feedback and ask questions.

CDOT looks forward to discussing the proposed intersection alternatives with the community in-person. For those unable to attend, information from the open house will be available on the project website. A project design feedback survey will be available via the project website from April 3 through May 31. The public is encouraged to complete the survey after reviewing the project information.

About CO 83 & Stagecoach Road Intersection Improvements:

CDOT, in coordination with El Paso County, is exploring improvements to increase safety and reduce traffic speeds at the intersection in the initial design and analysis phase to improve the CO 83 and Stagecoach Road intersection.

The design team has developed four new intersection alternatives that will improve safety, sight distance and traffic flow and is looking for public input on these alternatives.

Project benefits include:

  • Safety for turning movements
  • Improved sight distance
  • Reduction in travel speeds
  • Reduced intersection wait time
